Maker: American Flask & Cap Co.
This is a very rare flask, seldom encountered. It is for a set of Henry Deringer Duelling pistols. This exact type flask is pictured in Eberharts Book "The Deringer in America" on page 130, in a cased pair of Henry Deringer Duelling pistols. It is very rare to say the least. This Flask is similar/identical to Riling 560 on page 314, but it is made with the Patent top from American Flask and Cap Co. This configuration is mentioned on page 205 of Rilings book, under Fine Quality Pistol Powder Flasks with Divisions for Ball and Cap. Oak Leaf Pattern with Screw Top and Patent Top. It is not pictured in this exact configuration in Rilings book, with the Screw off Patent Top, which makes it very scarce, but this exact configuration is pictured in Eberhart's book on page 130 on Vol 1. I would like to thank Doug Eberhart for pointing out to me how rare this flask is at the most recent Pottstown PA gunshow 11-08, I could not identify this exact configuration but Doug pointed out to me how rare this flask is. A great item for the flask collector.
